Chapter 5 — Come Back Soon

Chapter 5 of the Class 2 English NCERT textbook (Mridang), "Come Back Soon", is a fun poem about different ways to travel — bus, train, boat, plane, taxi, car, and even a rocket to the moon — followed by speaking, listening, drawing, and writing activities that help children learn transport vocabulary, the vowel sound "u", and how to sort vehicles by land, air, and water.

• The Poem — Come Back Soon — The poem lists many ways to travel, from a bus and a train to a boat and a plane, and even a rocket to the moon. It ends with the cheerful line "But be sure to come back soon," making travel sound exciting but also warm and safe.
• Speaking Activity — Sharing a Travel Story — Children are asked to think about a time they travelled by bus or train and share it with the class. They talk about where they went, what they ate, what they saw from the window, and who came along.
• Listening Poem — Action Commands — A second short poem in the chapter uses action words like stop, stand, sit, jump, and run. Children listen to the teacher read it and then read it out, practising body-action vocabulary.
